What Is Karate?

Karate is a Japanese Martial Arts. It is combine with two Japanese words, "Kara" meaning Empty and "Te" meaning Hand. Thus, Karate means Empty Hand. Karate is a very famous martial art in all around the world. It is considered as one of the best martial arts for self defense, physical fitness, mental and moral too.

There are two types of karate: 
  1. Traditional Karate
  2. Sports Karate
There are so many different styles in karate. The four main styles are Shotokan, Goju Ryu, Wado Ryu, Shito Ryu.
 
What Is Karate?

In 1922 Gichin Funakoshi(1868-1957) brought Karate to Japan, and spread it all over the World. He introduced one of the famous karate style "Shotokan Karate". And Further some more styles are developed by some other martial artist. 

What Is Karate?
Karate is the combination of three K's 1)Kihon, 2)Kata, and 3) Kumite. Kihon includes strength exercises, stretching, punches, kicks, blocks etc. Kata Means "Form". and Kumite means Fighting or Sparring.
